Great News

Folks,

I am very pleased to relay the fact that it looks like we are back up and running-full steam ahead at The Talking Machine Forum. We have within less than two days rebuilt our membership rolls through word of mouth only! I have no doubt that the few "lost souls" will be located and informed of our new location very soon. We have grumbled a bit about the unfairness of the way everything unfolded, but we are back on track talking about what else—Talking Machines. I think it is safe to say this is our new permanent home. We've still got some decorating to do, but we've got a lot done considering half our team is across the continent right now trying to enjoy whatever it is that those tech savvy types enjoy when they get together.

The world is still revolving outside my door in spite of a coating of ice and snow. Once the forum is settled into it's new home I'll have to take some time to finally properly introduce myself if anyone is interested. And comment on our world.

Good Night & Good Luck,

John

Sad News

Folks,

Sadly I must announce that our competition has harassed ProBoards to the point where they decline to host either forum. We will be back on another host as soon as we can. I will not buckle under to bullies! For the time being I have set up this temporary forum: The Talking Machine Forum

Forum Name Change

Folks,

After much discussion over the last two weeks we at the Forum have decided on a more internationally appealing name. Since the brand name Victrola is only well known in the U.S.

New Phonograph Forum

Folks,

I haven't utilized this blog for anything since I started it sadly. I'm going to make an effort to change that now. First off I'd like to announce the creation of a new on-line discussion forum for antique talking machines: The Victrola Forum it is a part of my fledgling Talking Machine Info family. It is my hope that together with The Online Edison Discussion Board and Phonoland we can build an all encompassing triumvirate of phonographic knowledge.

I was pushed to create The Talking Machine Forum after hearing from many friends that a new setting was needed. I am amazed at the response so far. I want to thank everyone who has so far become a part of this rapidly growing forum. They are the reason for its success! Thank you all of you!

On another musical note, please check outA Glimpse Into 'Dawn' Of Recorded Music from today's broadcast of All Things Considered on NPR. It is a fascinating story.

Good Night & Good Luck,

John

Introduction

Hello All,

Who am I? No one special. I am sort of a neo-Luddite ;) with lots of opinions. Let's see if I am not too lazy to share them. Don't look here for the latest celebrity buzz or styles. I will most likely be all over the place spouting my opinions on just about everything. Much will be concerned with my hometown, Boston, Mass., but I will have something to say on the international at times. I'll have more in the way of a proper introduction this week.

Good Night & Good Luck,

J.
